In the
Mindful Parenting support groups we discuss chapters from the
book "Everyday Blessings" by Kabat-Zinn to inspire
our discussions.
This group
is open to anyone from any spiritual background, some are practitioners,
some are new, all
have in common an interest in infusing what is sacred into how
we are with our children. We look at what our buttons are, and
our habitual reactions, we laugh at ourselves or cry over our
stumbling blocks. We look at what is unique in our children and
what they
need from us. I feel deep respect for how each parent tries hard
to be the best parent he/she can be and awe at how bringing more
mindfulness to this whole mystery of parenting can have such joyful
results.
Several
groups may be offered:
Groups for mothers. I try to match
the age of the children so that women have the most in common.
Babies are welcome.
A support
group for women who are separated/divorced or single. This group
focuses on how to best support the children and oneself during
this challenging
time.
A group for
couples wanting to be on the same page as far as their values and
approach to parenting.
Groups consist of 4-6 people, and meet
in a series of approximately 8 sessions, after which members can
decide to continue onto the next series or not.
